No-show Appointments

Have you assessed the no-show appointments rate of your different patient populations? One way to analyze this is to study the impact based on visit types.

Many organizations have current initiatives focused on reducing re-admission rates by providing follow-up ambulatory appointments at the time of discharge. We have found that this type of appointment can have patient access no-show rates in excess of 50%!

One strategy we have implemented with our partners is to create a separate visit type for hospital follow-ups. Targeted strategies can then be implemented with this visit type to reduce the impact on the providers and their clinic flow.
